Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the frequently asked questions about our program.
What is required to start a rental contract?
We require the rest of this months rent (prorated), next month, and a refundable security deposit of $50 or 10% of the instrument cost. Which ever is greater. A valid drivers license and credit card are also required at the time of instrument pick up.
Most instruments with our rent to own program are paid off within 2 years. The rental is complete when the principle paid in rent matches the total purchase price of the instrument. We do not inflate our instrument prices when doing a rental and there are no finance charges added.
How much of my monthly rent applies toward the purchase of the instrument each month?
All monthly rent paid is applicable toward the purchase of the instrument. The maintenance and replacement fee is excluded in this calculation.
What is the maintenance and replacement fee and what does it cover?
The "M&R" fee covers against accidental damage and total instrument loss. Please see our rental terms and conditions tab for more information
What is the minimum term length and can I end the rental early?
Our rentals require a 3 month minimum. After the minimum term you may return the rental at any time. Unfortunately, rental credit is forfeited but your security deposit is refundable as long as the instrument was been taken care of.
What if I need to change sizes or instrument quality?
You may upgrade your instrument or change sizes at any time during the rental. Up to 100% of the principle paid will roll over into the next instrument.
Once my instrument is paid off, what is Violin Shop Tampa & Sarasota's trade in policy?
We offer up to 100% trade-in credit on all instruments purchased with Violin Shop Tampa. Please see store for further details.
Is my security deposit refundable?
If you decide to return your instrument early, your contract's security deposit is refundable. Instrument, case, and bow must be in good working order to receive a full refund of your security deposit.
